Uzbekistan Culture Days were held in Galicia.

The Uzbekistan Culture Days were held in the autonomous community of Galicia with the support of the Embassy. The event served as an important platform to showcase Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage to a wide Spanish audience.
The grand opening took place at the Edificio Redeiras cultural center and gathered around 100 guests — representatives from the University of Vigo, academic and business circles, local authorities, as well as cultural organizations. The evening was enhanced by performances featuring national music, dances, and presentations of traditional Uzbek crafts and cuisine.
Speaking at the opening, Farrukh Tursunov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Spain, emphasized the significance of cultural exchange as a vital tool of people-to-people diplomacy.
The program also included discussions on expanding cultural and tourism ties between Uzbekistan and Spain. It was noted that in 2024, more than 23,000 tourists from Spain visited Uzbekistan — a record figure made possible by the launch of direct flights between Tashkent and Madrid.
Special attention was given to the upcoming major international event — the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference to be held in Samarkand in 2025. Participants highlighted Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage inscribed on the UNESCO list and expressed interest in further cultural cooperation.
The event concluded with a vibrant concert program featuring the “Bahor” ensemble. The warm and festive atmosphere was enhanced by an interactive segment, where attendees were invited to try on the Uzbek tyubeteika, a true symbol of Eastern hospitality and friendship among nations.
The Culture Days were part of a visit by an Uzbek delegation of 30 professors and researchers representing leading technical universities of the country — Fergana Polytechnic University, Andijan and Jizzakh Technical Institutes, as well as Green University and Kimyo International University.
The GREENDT project, implemented under Erasmus+, aims to develop engineering and environmental education in Uzbekistan, introduce European experience, and promote sustainable development principles. It also fosters active academic and cultural exchange between Uzbekistan and European countries.
The Uzbekistan Culture Days in Galicia demonstrated the power of cultural diplomacy, expanding opportunities for mutual understanding, strengthening friendship, and developing cooperation between our countries.
