Khiva Invites Visitors to the International Melon Festival "Qovun Sayli – 2026"

From 7 to 9 August 2026, the ancient city of Khiva will host the International Melon Festival "Qovun Sayli – 2026", one of Uzbekistan's most vibrant cultural and gastronomic events.
The festival will take place within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ichan Kala and the Arda Khiva Tourist Complex. Every year, the event attracts thousands of visitors from Uzbekistan and abroad, offering a unique opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of Khorezm, traditional Uzbek hospitality, and the country's renowned melon-growing traditions.
The festival programme includes:
- an exhibition of the finest and rarest melon varieties from across Uzbekistan;
- theatrical performances and traditional folklore shows;
- concerts featuring renowned Uzbek and international artists;
- tastings of authentic Khorezm cuisine and gastronomic exhibitions;
- a handicrafts fair and artisan masterclasses;
- themed photo zones, traditional games and family-friendly entertainment;
- evening concerts followed by spectacular fireworks displays.
Uzbek melons are widely recognized as one of the country's national treasures. Thanks to favourable climatic conditions and centuries-old agricultural traditions, Uzbekistan cultivates dozens of melon varieties renowned for their exceptional flavour, aroma and diversity.
The International Melon Festival offers visitors the opportunity not only to taste these world-famous melons, but also to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Oriental hospitality, discover the history of ancient Khiva, and explore the rich cultural heritage of the Khorezm region.
