The President of Uzbekistan participated in the opening ceremony of the World Urban Forum

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today took part in the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, being held in Baku under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, according to the “Dunyo” News Agency.
According to the press service of the head of state, upon arrival at the capital’s Congress Center, the President of Uzbekistan was welcomed by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme Anacláudia Rossbach.
A joint photo ceremony for the participants was held.
The theme of this year’s forum is “Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities.” Heads of state and government, leaders of international organizations, and representatives of development institutions are taking part in the event.
The forum agenda includes issues related to sustainable urban development, expanding public access to modern and affordable housing, improving the quality of the urban environment, strengthening climate resilience, developing social and transport infrastructure, and enhancing housing finance mechanisms.
The President of Uzbekistan will address the Leaders’ Summit of the forum.
