Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has issued an official statement expressing deep concern over the escalation of the situation on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Dunyo News Agency reports.

“Uzbekistan calls on the parties to immediately cease hostilities, exercise maximum restraint, and prevent any further escalation of tensions,” the statement reads. “We are convinced that all emerging disagreements must be resolved exclusively through peaceful, political and diplomatic means, based on the principles of mutual respect, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states”.
