Uzbekistan ranks among the most attractive emerging destinations for Spanish tourists

According to a survey conducted among travel agencies by agenttravel.es, Uzbekistan, alongside Georgia and Albania, is gaining increasing popularity in the Spanish tourism market. Among the key factors driving interest in the destination are the launch of new air routes, the expansion of tour operator offerings, and tourists’ growing preference for alternatives to traditional and overcrowded destinations.
Interest among Spanish tourists in Uzbekistan has increased significantly following the expansion of direct air connections between the two countries. In April last year, Uzbekistan Airways launched a direct flight on the Madrid–Tashkent route. In addition, the airline Iberojet operates flights connecting Madrid and Zaragoza with Tashkent, offering two weekly departures from Madrid.
The growing interest in the destination is also reflected in the activities of tour operators. The company Ávoris has been operating a direct tourism program to Uzbekistan for the third consecutive year in cooperation with Iberojet. The program runs in May, June, September, and October and includes departures from Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Santiago, Seville, and Zaragoza.
TUI Spain also reports positive dynamics for the Uzbekistan destination. According to the company, demand has increased by approximately 15 percent, driven by interest in traditional tourist routes with a strong historical component. As a result, the company expanded its program by 30 percent, including the itinerary “The Essence of Uzbekistan.”
Tour operator representatives note that the expansion of programs and the provision of guaranteed departures, including during the high season, make it possible to meet growing demand and maintain sustained interest in the destination.
It is emphasized that traveling to Uzbekistan offers an opportunity to explore a country that preserves the heritage of the Great Silk Road. Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva—historic cities included in the UNESCO World Heritage List—served for centuries as major trading centers linking Europe, Asia, and Africa.
It is worth recalling that, according to data from the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, 9.7 million foreign tourists visited the country between January and October 2025, representing a 50 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
