A law regulating the use of artificial intelligence has come into force in Uzbekistan

The President of Uzbekistan has signed the law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts in Connection with the Regulation of Relations Arising from the Use of Artificial Intelligence,” which regulates key aspects of AI application, including objectives, principles, directions of state policy, and liability for violations, reports the IA “Dunyo” correspondent.
According to the law, the main objectives of regulating the use of artificial intelligence are to ensure human safety, protect life, health, freedom, honor, and dignity, and prevent violations of other inalienable rights of citizens. The law establishes general rules for the application of AI in the creation of information resources and the operation of information systems, as well as defines the concept of “artificial intelligence” and the directions of state policy in this area.
The document introduces administrative liability for unlawful processing and dissemination of personal data using AI technologies. Violations of the law carry fines ranging from 50 to 100 BRV (Basic Calculation Units) or administrative arrest for up to 15 days. Technical means used in the commission of the violation are also subject to confiscation.
