Uzbekistan and Spain Discuss New Directions for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

An online meeting of the Uzbekistan–Spain Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Group took place, reports Dunyo News Agency.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for further strengthening friendly relations, deepening strategic partnership, and expanding inter-parliamentary dialogue.
It was noted that in recent years, bilateral economic cooperation has shown steady growth. Joint investment projects worth $800 million are being implemented in the fields of infrastructure, industry, and innovation.
Special attention was given to cooperation in education and tourism. It was reported that 32 joint projects are being implemented between higher education institutions of the two countries, and last year Uzbekistan was visited by 23.6 thousand tourists from Spain, demonstrating the growing interest in the country’s cultural and historical heritage.
The parties emphasized that inter-parliamentary dialogue remains a key element of Uzbekistan–Spain relations. During the discussions, initiatives were presented to deepen cooperation, including regular exchanges of views and experience in legislative work, development of joint inter-parliamentary action plans, studying the activities of the Youth Parliament, as well as collaboration in agriculture and the implementation of water-saving technologies.
The Spanish side supported the proposals of the Uzbek delegation, noting their importance for both countries. Senator Raúl Dalmacio Valero Mejía emphasized that the initiatives proposed by the Uzbek side have practical value for youth development and the promotion of equal opportunities. He also added that successful practices implemented in one country can be effectively applied in the other.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to expand constructive dialogue and further strengthen inter-parliamentary ties between Uzbekistan and Spain.
