The village of Omonkhona has been included in the UN Tourism development program

UN Tourism has announced the winners of the “Best Tourism Villages” initiative, among which is the village of Omonkhona, located in the Baysun district of the Surkhandarya region, the Dunyo News Agency reports.
This global UN Tourism initiative aims to draw greater attention to tourism villages and to preserve the unique culture, traditions, and natural beauty of small rural communities. This year, more than 270 candidates from 65 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe took part in the competition.
From Uzbekistan, the Tourism Committee nominated the village of Omonkhona, located in the Baysun district of the Surkhandarya region. As a result of the selection process, Omonkhona was recognized as one of the winners and included in the UN Tourism Development Programme.
The village of Omonkhona is renowned for its natural landscapes, healing springs, historical landmarks, intangible cultural heritage, and the hospitality of its residents. From now on, Omonkhona will develop within the framework of this international program, drawing on global best practices in infrastructure development, marketing, and service quality.
