Prospects for Developing Cooperation with Spain in the Fisheries Sector Discussed at the Embassy of Uzbekistan

A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan between Ambassador Farrukh Tursunov and Francisco Vilor, Co-founder and Technical Director of the Spanish company Feeding Systems S.L.
Feeding Systems S.L., operating under the trade name Fish Farm Feeder (FFF), specializes in the design and supply of modern integrated solutions for aquaculture, including automated feeding, monitoring, engineering, and comprehensive management systems for fish farms. The company successfully implements large-scale projects in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and North Africa, contributing to the introduction of innovative technologies and the training of specialists.
During the talks, the Spanish company emphasized the importance of the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, the country’s high pace of economic development, as well as its openness to cooperation, including in the creation of new economic sectors. Interest was expressed in establishing cooperation with Uzbekistan in the areas of fisheries, livestock, and poultry, offering its unique technologies and equipment that have no analogues worldwide, which will contribute to the rational development of these sectors with an export-oriented focus.
The Spanish side was invited to establish more comprehensive cooperation, covering the entire cycle—from the design of fish farms to the organization of feeding, processing, freezing, and preparing fish products for export. Trout, salmon, and other valuable species were proposed as the main types of fish to be farmed.
It was also proposed to the Spanish side to consider the possibility of organizing the production of certain equipment components directly in Uzbekistan, which would significantly reduce costs, create new jobs, and accelerate technological modernization. This, in turn, would enable the export of equipment and technologies from Uzbekistan.
Given that FFF technologies can also be applied in livestock and poultry farming, the establishment of corresponding equipment production in Uzbekistan would open up new prospects for expanding cooperation with both neighboring and more distant countries in the agro-industrial sector.
As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached that within one month the company will prepare the concept of the first cluster project for farming up to 1,000 tons of fish per year, to be presented in the regions of Uzbekistan.
