President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Inspects New Airport Built on the Basis of “Tashkent-East” Airfield.
According to the press service of the head of state, as Uzbekistan develops and strengthens its international standing, its ties with the outside world are becoming increasingly active. In this regard, consistent measures are being taken to comprehensively develop the country’s transport infrastructure.
One of such strategic projects is the business aviation complex built on the basis of the “Tashkent-East” airfield. Construction began in 2017. Despite the pandemic and subsequent challenges, the large-scale project was successfully completed.
The airport covers a total area of 561 hectares. The 4-kilometer runway and three taxiways were fully reconstructed, making it possible to receive even the heaviest aircraft. An apron for 20 aircraft has been built. Modern hangars were erected to provide safe and optimal storage conditions for Boeing-787s, A320s, business jets, and helicopters.
VIP and CIP terminals have been constructed at the airport. The hall for high-ranking guests is fully equipped for official meetings, negotiations, and briefings. The CIP terminal, designed to accommodate 100 passengers per hour, will feature shops and dining areas.
Importantly, the airport is being equipped with modern ICAO Category III-A radio-technical and meteorological systems. This will ensure safe takeoffs and landings even in adverse weather conditions.
Thanks to its convenient location, the new airport will become an important transport hub for the capital and New Tashkent. It will expand opportunities for international visits and business trips, improve conditions for foreign investors, increase economic activity, boost the service sector, and create new jobs.
The head of state also spoke with representatives of the public and the older generation at the site.
“After long preparations, we have built a new airport that will provide a high level of service for guests of our country. This will help ease the load on Tashkent International Airport. A large complex is also planned to be built for it at another location. In general, large-scale projects are being implemented across all regions. May these new facilities strengthen our well-being and serve the people, and may peace always prevail in our country,” noted the President of Uzbekistan.
