Over 70 Uzbek Businesses Align Documentation with the International Code for the Protection of Tourists

Uzbekistan continues to actively implement the provisions of the International Code for the Protection of Tourists, which the country officially joined on February 24 of this year.
According to the Tourism Commitee of Uzbekistan, in order to fulfill its international commitments in practice, Uzbekistan has moved to the stage of integrating the Code’s norms into national tourism policy and business practices. In collaboration with relevant ministries and government agencies, a “roadmap” for the implementation of the Code was developed and approved. It includes the adaptation of legislation, contractual frameworks, and service standards in line with international recommendations.
As noted, an awareness and outreach campaign is underway involving representatives of the tourism sector, aimed at fostering a clear understanding of the Code’s principles. Tourism organizations are being encouraged to explicitly incorporate clauses related to tourist safety and rights protection into their contracts.
To date, more than 70 tourism-related businesses have already amended their contractual documents, revising key provisions to align with the requirements of the International Code for the Protection of Tourists.
Experts emphasize that the practical implementation of the Code’s norms contributes to strengthening Uzbekistan’s image as a safe and responsible tourist destination. The country is confidently moving toward creating a secure, comfortable, and rights-based environment for all travelers — a particularly timely development amid growing tourist flows and the active promotion of Uzbekistan on the global tourism market.
