In Barcelona, the premiere screening of the feature film The Great Amir and Donna Maria took place at Cinemes Girona.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Spain in cooperation with the Cinematography Agency of Uzbekistan, with the support of Casa Asia, an institution that plays an important role in promoting dialogue between Spain and Asian countries.
The choice of venue was no coincidence. Cinemes Girona is considered one of the city’s notable cultural spaces, specializing in European and independent cinema, and regularly hosting international film projects and thematic screenings.
The premiere brought together members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the cultural community, and the general public. The film was presented as part of an international project dedicated to the 690th anniversary of the birth of Amir Timur.
As noted by the screenwriter, Khayriddin Sultanov, the film was developed over several years with the participation of an international team of specialists. According to him, holding the premiere in Spain carries special symbolic significance, reflecting the historical ties between the two countries, including the visit of the Castilian ambassador Ruy González de Clavijo to the court of Amir Timur.
The film combines a historical foundation with artistic interpretation, addressing themes of freedom, human dignity, and intercultural dialogue.
A contemporary storyline adds further depth to the narrative, highlighting the importance of historical memory and its influence on individual identity.
The screening took place in a warm atmosphere and received a strong response from the audience. Viewers praised the film’s depth, the expressive performances of the actors, and the relevance of the ideas explored. After the screening, guests continued their discussions in an informal setting.
Earlier, the premiere of the Uzbek feature film The Great Amir and Donna Maria had also taken place in Madrid.
