The Navruz celebration took place in a popular park in the capital of Spain

In the capital of Spain, the Embassy of Uzbekistan organized a cultural and educational event dedicated to the celebration of Navruz.
The celebration took place at the «Casa de Vacas» cultural center, located in one of the largest and most visited parks in Madrid, the «Jardines del Buen Retiro».
Around 150 guests attended the event, including leaders and staff from the diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Hungary, representatives of the Uzbek diaspora residing in various regions of Spain, as well as residents of Madrid.
Opening the event, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Farrukh Tursunov, emphasized that Navruz symbolizes the renewal of nature, the strengthening of friendship between peoples, and serves as an important factor in the development of intercultural dialogue.
As part of the cultural program, the event began with the dance performance «Spring Waltz» by Rania Mukhtarova. Then, scholars of the «El-Yurt Umidi» Foundation studying in Madrid — Tillobek Otoboev, Jonibek Saidov, Yahyo Bekpulatov, and Murodjon Rustamov — presented traditional Uzbek dances, including the Andijan polka and Khorezmian lyazgi.
Special interest among the guests was shown for the musical performance by compatriot Maksud Rashidov, who played Uzbek folk melodies on the piano. The lapar performance by Islam Kabirov and Hilola Ruzieva also received warm applause, vividly reflecting national folklore.
At the end of the event, guests were introduced to Uzbek national cuisine. Participants tasted traditional Navruz dishes, including sumalak, allowing them to gain a closer understanding of Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage.
Spanish guests were genuinely delighted and highly appreciated both the flavors of the dishes and the festive atmosphere, noting the hospitality and authenticity of Uzbek culture. Many expressed particular interest in national traditions and emphasized that such events contribute to strengthening cultural ties and mutual understanding between peoples.
