Uzbekistan and Spain boost business cooperation

On February 3, 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov met with Jose Luis Bonet Ferrer, Head of the Chamber of Commerce of the Kingdom Spain, in Madrid.
The meeting focused on the current state and future prospects of trade, economic and investment cooperation.
It was noted that Spain is one of Uzbekistan’s important partners within the European Union. Over the past six years, bilateral trade turnover has nearly doubled and, by the end of 2025, amounted to USD 106.4 million. At the same time, it was emphasized that the current level of trade does not fully reflect the economic potential of the two countries.
President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce José Luis Bonet Ferrer emphasized that the structural reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, aimed at trade liberalization, improving the investment climate, supporting the private sector and protecting the rights of foreign investors, are yielding tangible results, and that interest from the Spanish business community is gradually increasing.
It was emphasized that the stable regulatory and legal environment in Uzbekistan, along with existing tax and customs incentives, free economic zones, industrial parks, and sectoral clusters, enhances its attractiveness for investors.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to developing practical and long-term cooperation, expanding direct business contacts, holding targeted B2B meetings and business forums, including facilitating the participation of Spanish entrepreneurs in the Tashkent International Investment Forum and jointly organizing the Uzbekistan–Spain Business Forum in Madrid in 2026.
It was also noted that the Spanish Chamber of Commerce (Cámara de Comercio de España) is a national organization uniting 85 territorial chambers across Spain and 44 overseas representations located in more than 40 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Australia. The Chamber represents the interests of Spanish business, supports international trade and investment, promotes the development of business contacts and the internationalization of companies across all sectors of the economy, and acts as an intermediary between the private sector and governmental and international institutions.
