Uzbekistan Strengthens Its Position as an International Tourist Destination

Uzbekistan continues to strenghten its position as one of the most attractive travel destinations in Central Asia. In the first four months of 2025, the country welcomed over 3 million international tourists, marking a 46.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the National Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Uzbekistan, from January to April 2025, the number of foreign visitors reached 3.1 million, which is 988,000 more than during the same period in 2024.
The majority of tourists traditionally come from neighboring countries:
- Kyrgyzstan – 942,200 visitors
- Tajikistan – 793,900
- Kazakhstan – 617,200
There is also a steady flow of tourists from:
- Russia – 240,100
- Afghanistan – 156,600
- Turkmenistan – 109,600
At the same time, the number of travelers from more distant countries is growing, reflecting Uzbekistan’s rising international appeal. During the first months of the year, the country received:
- Turkey – 49,400
- China – 38,100
- India – 22,600
- Italy – 11,100
As well as more than 136,000 visitors from other countries.
The growing interest in Uzbekistan is driven by its unique cultural and historical heritage, rich culinary traditions, and the government's efforts to improve tourism infrastructure, expand transportation links, and actively promote the country on the global stage.
Among the government’s key priorities are further simplification of visa procedures, expansion of air connectivity, and enhancement of tourism service quality.
In 2024, Uzbekistan welcomed 8 million tourists, generating USD 3.5 billion in tourism revenues.
