The President of Uzbekistan receives the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission
The issues of preparation and holding of the upcoming Presidential elections were discussed at the meeting of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission, Ambassador Urszula Gacek, on July 3.
The Head of state noted with deep satisfaction the established constructive dialogue, active exchanges, open and fruitful cooperation with the OSCE.
The OSCE/ODIHR experts took part in the modernization of the national electoral system, including developing the Election Code of Uzbekistan.
The OSCE/ODIHR mission also observed the constitutional referendum held on April 30 this year.
Views on various aspects of holding the election in accordance with international standards were exchanged at the meeting.
The Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission, Ambassador Urszula Gacek, expressed support for the irreversible processes of further deepening democratic transformations and socio-economic reforms in New Uzbekistan. Measures being implemented to conduct transparent and fair elections in Uzbekistan were noted.
