Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia discuss current issues on the bilateral and regional agenda
On July 24, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The Leader of Russia cordially congratulated the President of Uzbekistan on his birthday, sincerely wishing him good health, well-being and success in state activities for the sake of sustainable development and prosperity of Uzbekistan.
Vladimir Putin also announced a decree signed the day before to award Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Order of Alexander Nevsky in recognition of his great merits in strengthening friendship and bilateral cooperation. The President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to the President of Russia for the high assessment of the current level and all-round support for further strengthening the strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia.
The course of implementation of the agreements of the high-level meetings was considered. The importance of continuing active joint work within the framework of established effective cooperation mechanisms at the intergovernmental level, in particular, to maintain the high dynamics of trade and economic collaboration and promote priority cooperation projects, was emphasized.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Russia also noted with satisfaction the fruitful contacts and exchanges at the interregional level and called for their further expansion.
The main attention was paid to the regional agenda. Views were exchanged on the preparation of the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the city of Samarkand in September this year.
